Is it an Anniversary? A birthday? A Blogaversary? I do not know, so I am sticking with BIRTHDAY as 10 years ago, Beautiful Makeup Search was born.  

It was born from a simple idea. You see, I had just come from a department store beauty counter for what seemed like the hundredth time, when I was pressured into buying a product that was not right for my coloring or skin type.  You know, those products that are new where sales associates were told they needed to push the sales in order to meet their goal? Yeah - a product that I did not need.  It was an endless cycle. I came home and searched all over the internet to find a site that would honestly tell me about some of these products. I found a few sites that bashed beauty products and that was not what I wanted. I wanted to know about the best in beauty. The latest, the greatest; with real reviews.  I found nothing. Nada. So I decided to start one on my own. Ten years later, here I am.

Smoothe Shaving Tips.

Just because summer is coming to an end, it doesn't mean that it's time to stop worry about having the softest smooth legs. While I tend to mine more frequently in the months that I am baring them more frequently, I do like to keep them as smooth as possible all throughout the year.

I recently got to ask Venus Dermatologist, Dr. Ellen Gendler for some suggestions on keeping legs their smoothest.

 Q: I know everyone is different, but is there a certain routine you should stick to when shaving? Every 3 days? Only in the tub?

A: Every person’s routine should depend on their needs, but if you have very coarse hair and are prone to ingrowns, I’d recommend shaving less frequently. In any case, I’d always recommend shaving in the tub/shower, where the area you’re shaving can be wet.

Q: What do you suggest to keep legs smooth and fuzz free for as long as possible between shavings?

A: Use a razor that can protect your skin as you shave. Try Venus ProSkin MoistureRich – it has built-in shave gel bars that do just that. Moisturization is also key! Make sure you apply lotion right after shaving, when the skin can fully absorb what you put on.

Q: I seem to always cut my ankles and knees. Is there a way to minimize these nicks?

A: Make sure you’re using a razor designed for the contours of those trickier areas. Using a razor for women (like Venus) is one way to conquer these areas easier, because they are made with features like a pivoting head.

Q: How often should you change the razor blade?

A: It’s different for everyone, but as a rule of thumb, throw out your razor blade when you first start to notice dullness or discomfort – this usually happens to most women anywhere between 5-10 shaves.

I wanted to say HI because I really feel out of the loop.  I know you couldn't tell, but I have been traveling for over three weeks, and I am finally home to a computer where I can really catch up! Yay! I have been depending on my trusty iPad (LOVE IT) and have been able to keep up with giveaways and such, but I feel like I have missed you.  I haven't responded to email and comments over the last month, but I am back now and things will resume back to normal. If I owe you a response, look for it this week.

Now that I am back, I have so much to catch you up on.  I have been trying and discovering new beauties everyday, and I have so much to share.  Make sure you check in a few times a day now as I plan to update two to three times a day! I will post a morning post, like I normally do, a mid day post and a late afternoon post ( at least for the next month) to keep you all in the loop. I just know you will love what I have to share. 

I have a new giveaway that I will be posting later today as a sort of welcome back, so be sure to log back on tonight and enter, because this one will only be up for a few days!
