Bobbi Brown's Baby Boomer Beauty Tips.

Bobbi Brown was on The Today Show yesterday sharing some beauty tips for baby boomers. One piece of advice that resounded so strongly with me is that you cannot do anything to your lips, medically speaking of course.  If you were born with thin lips or they are thinning, use a good lipstick, is basically what Bobbi said. I agree with her and believe that concept. If you want to use fillers or botox and the like, elsewhere, that is fine. Suddenly walking around with plump lips that you have never had is just a no!

Watch for the rest of her tips, along with actress Susan Saint James.

Time to Toss the Old Makeup.

As the new year is here, it is a great time to think about cleaning out your makeup bag or drawer.

Like just about anything you use on your body, beauty products do expire and go bad over time. I know it is hard to think about throwing away something that may have barely been used, but for safety sake, it really is for the best.

There are lists all over the web about what to toss and when, but I am getting this advice right from the master, Bobbi Brown. As listed in her book The Makeup Manual, these are Bobbi's suggestions.

Your products will expire in the following amount of time after first opening.

Liquid and Cream Foundation - 2 years
Concealer - 2 years
Powder - 2 years
Mascara - 6 months
Lipstick - 12 to 18 months
Lip and Eye Pencils - 12 to 18 months
Eye Shadow - 2 years
Powder Blush - 2 years
Cream Blush - 2 years
Moisturizer - 2 years
Eye Cream - 6 months
Sunscreen - 2 years
Face Cream - 2 years

If your items are from MAC, do not throw them away. Bring them back to MAC, for their BACK TO MAC recycling program. For every six items of primary MAC packaging that you return to them for recycling, you can get one free lipstick of your choice.

Your Best Skin: Bobbi Brown EXTRA Eye Balm.

Bobbi Brown's skincare EXTRA's are just that. They are extra help remedies targeted to give specific areas a bit of extra help. Except, that these beauties give more than a bit of extra help - they are skin care wonders in themselves.

Her Hydrating Eye Cream made my favorites list as I do use it every night. When I feel like I need an even extra added bit of moisture, I turn to this EXTRA Eye Balm.

When I say balm, I mean it. This beauty of a balm is a very rich balm. So rich, it is not meant for daytime use, unless you are lounging around all day and don't plan on wearing makeup. It is hard working and as it is a balm, it does leave a bit of a greasy after feel. Greasy in a good way, though. It drenches the thirsty eye area in moisture as Vitamin E is a main ingredient.

EXTRA Eye Balm helps fight puffiness, reduce the look of fine, dry lines, and soothes and protects skin.

If you need a bit of extra help in the eye are, and really who doesn't, check out EXTRA Eye Balm at the Bobbi Brown counter or online now. The hefty jar is $60. As a tiny little bit goes a long way, this jar will last an extra long time.
