Backstage with MAC Cosmetics.

MAC makeup artists have been running around backstage at New York Fashion Week pretty feverishly. While they have been working hard, they have been nice enough to send me information on the makeup trends we will be seeing next Spring.

One of my favorite looks so far is that from the Luca Luca show, just on the runway yesterday.

mac_luca_1.jpgMAC artist Tom  Pecheu was going for the seventies supermodel look. His inspiration? A young Jerry Hall.

Tom used bright Parrot blue eyeshadow on the eyelids, then covered the creases with a shimmery dark grey to give what he called "true sophistication."

There was an obvious lack of cheek color, which I personally think needed just a quick swipe of a nude pink.

To finish the look, model mouths were dabbed with N3 Lipstick - a putty-ish pink nude.

The effect? A grown up in the eyes - and a tender young girl in the mouth.

Beautiful, and very wearable!

Back to School Beauty - Makeup Up Palettes & Kits.

graphic_btsb_icon.jpgOne of the easiest ways to lighten up your makeup routine is by finding a great makeup palette or kit, with products for eyes, cheeks, and lips.

Using a palette or kit will not only simplify your makeup application, it will cut down on the time you spend fishing through your makeup bag to find the perfect products to go with your daily look.

I have found two perfect solutions. One is a kit, and one is a palette.

First there is the all-in-one palette, or as they call it their Quickie Chronicles, from Too Faced Cosmetics.  This Quickie is called The Miss Sixty Girl.

The Miss Sixty Girl Palette includes an eye shadow quad in sunflower yellow, white pearl, shimmering pink, and dark navy;  powder eyeliner duo in black velvet and black with silver glitter;  shimmering peach blush; and four lip glosses in shell pink, cotton candy pink, champagne shimmer, and ruby berry red, plus a removable mini pocket mirror.

Then there is a makeup kit from Bare Escentuals. This kit is appropriately titled Renegade Chic.

The Renegade Chic kit includes a  Lip Gloss in Rose Radiance,  BareMinerals Eye Shadow in Dove,  BareMinerals Eye Shadow in Graphite,  BareMinerals Face Color in Rose Radiance, an Angled Face Brush, and an Eye Defining Brush.

Cosmetic Trends: The Cat Eye.

The Cat Eye is so hot right now - and I am loving it. Simply flip through your favorite magazines, and you will see the cat eye look in almost every fashion or designer ad.

My beautiful friend, Christina, of eBeautyDaily, is running an amazing contest, called "Show Me Your Cat Eye" and she is giving away the ultimate Cat Eye Kit, the Get in Line Kit from Beth Bender Beauty.

Can I have one of those amazing kits too so I can have that gorgeous Cat Eye like Beyonce? I'd like to rock the Cat Eye in my suburban, every day life!
