Makeup Wars: My Favorite BB Cream.

BB Cream is probably the biggest type of launch that hit the US market over the last year or so. All of us girls in the Makeup Wars have tried our share of BB Creams and we are here to each share our favorites this week.

I've tried plenty of BB Creams this last year. Take a look at a few I've tried:

Boscia B.B. Cream SPF 27 PA++

Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm

Stila Stay All Day 10-in-1 HD Beauty Balm

L’Oréal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream

Clinique Age Defense BB Cream SPF 30

Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35

Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF 35

3LAB Perfect BB SPF 40 Cream

L’Oréal Paris Youth Code BB Cream Illuminator

Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector

So, which is my favorite? That is a tough one. While I like the BB Cream in theory, I have had a really hard time of getting one that meets what I want as far as coverage, plus skin care benefits. If I were judging this by consistency, feel and skin care benefits that I saw, I would rate the Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm as my favorite. It was everything I expected from a BB cream, except it is too light for my skin about 90% of the year. I can't wear it. That's why I am choosing the BB Cream that I wear most as my favorite. I choose this for color, coverage, skin protection and benefits. My favorite? Bobbi Brown Cream SPF 35.

Bobbi’s new BB Cream is a skin care/makeup hybrid that combines moisturizer, treatment, SPF and foundation all-in-one. Plus, this unique skin tone correct formula leaves skin looking flawless and perfectly natural. Over time it provides long-term benefits too. Skin is brighter, more even; fine lines are diminished; redness is reduced and pores are minimized. The SPF boosts the formula with daily protection against harmful UVA/UVB rays and environmental hazards, which is extremely important for daily wear. It has a mid-range price point of $42.00, and that's for 1.35 oz..

The formula feels a bit thick at first, so I like to spread it on the back of my hand to warm it up. As soon as I apply it though, it feels very light and blends really easily with my fingers. If I want more coverage in a certain area, I just dot on a bit more and blend away; it does so seamlessly. The look is smooth and very natural. It's not a full on foundation look. It is more of a natural weekend makeup look. I can just apply this, some bronzer, mascara, gloss and be good to go. I am using the shade Medium and it is a great match for my NC30 skin tone.

Makeup Wars: My Halloween Manicure.

This week, us ladies from Makeup Wars are taking on the challenge of creating a Halloween Manicure. I have to say that I was super excited about this post because I am a huge fan of nail art. Sadly, I am nail art challenged. Well, honestly, I am nail polish challenged. I haven't been able to give myself a decent manicure for years. Thank goodness for Gina who has been doing my nails for longer than I can remember so I don't have to leave the house without beautiful looking nails. So what's a nail challenged girl to do? She, meaning me, finds some great nail polish strips.

Now these are not just any nail strips; these are pre-designed Halloween nail polish strips that have me sporting the latest Halloween nail designs. These are the How Corny Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips. They are definitely my favorite out of this years Halloween designs.

I like the silver glitter polish with yellow, orange and white candy corns.

What is so great about the nail polish strips is that they are so easy to use. They apply in a few simple steps and there is no dry time at all. You get everything you need to apply the nail strips in the little "kit". You get 16 Nail Polish Strips, a cuticle stick and a mini nail file and buffer.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects Halloween Nail Strips

To use the strips you first need a clean dry nail that is lightly buffed with the white side of the file. Then you follow the easy instructions:

  • Select the best fitting strip for each nail.
  • Remove the clear protective plastic cover.
  • Peel the nail polish strip from the backing paper.
  • Choose the side of the strip that best fits the shape of your cuticles. (I usually select the side opposite of the gray tab)
  • Place the strip against the cuticle line, holding the strip in the center.
  • Press the entire strip to the nail by gently stretching it for a perfect fit.
  • Smooth it out with another finger.
  • Gently file away the excess nail strip that overlaps outside of the nail.

To remove the nail strip, you simply use a normal nail polish remover as you would to remove regular nail polish.

The other designs I have are the Numbskull design, the Batty For You design, and the Patch-O-Lanterns, but I like the look of the candy corn designed How Corny designs the best.

Check out all the Halloween designs at your favorite drugstore or mass retailer. Each box of Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips sells for around $9.99 each.

Makeup Wars: My Favorite Fall Look.

There is no denyingthe fact that fall is here. To go with the cooler temperatures, I am layering on the clothes along with more makeup in deeper shades. This is the perfect time for us Makeup Wars ladies to show you our fall looks.

I obviously love makeup, and one thing I do like about fall is the fall makeup launches. I have been trying a lot of new makeup and have come to really love a few. Like I said, I am wearing more makeup, along with deeper, more rosey shades on my lips and cheeks. My eyes are full of green and bronze. Take a look at the products that make up my favorite fall look.

Face

Dolce & Gabbana The Foundation
I am loving this medium coverage foundation. Look for my D&G The Foundation Review tomorrow.

M·A·C Eternal Sun Pro Longwear Blush
I weaar this where I would a bronzer to contour and warm up my skin.

Shiseido Camellia Compact
I blend all the shades together to get a very deep rosey glow on my cheeks. I will have a full review of this beautiful compact along with the rest of Shiseido fall launches soon.

Eyes

NARS Eyeliner Stylo in Koala
This is a very dark gray shade that I line the upper lid with, under the shadow.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in Barely Beige, Gold Shimmer and Mossy Green
I start with Barly Beige and blend that all over my lid. I then add in Gold Shimmer to the outer 3/4 of my lid and finish with Mossy Green in the crease, on the outer corner of the eye, and use it also as a liner beneath my eye.

Clinique High Impact Extreme Volume Mascara

I love the volume I am getting from this dark black mascara.

Lips

Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Color in Spiced Rose
This very moisturizing lipstick imparts a beautiful deep rose to my lips.

L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Le Gloss Chic-ly Pale
This adds a pearly, softened glow to my deep rose shades lips.
