Protect and Repair Sun Exposed Hair with Kérastase.

As the sun’s UV rays can harm different hair types in different ways, Kérastase Paris has created personalized protection and repair indexes for specific hair care needs. They have created their new SOLEIL line of products to help us through the Summer.

The SOLEIL range includes 7 products: Micro-Voile Protecteur, Gelée Aqua Proof, Crème UV Défense Active, Bain Après-Soleil, Crème Richesse, Masque UV Défense Active and Sérum Après-Soleil. To find out exactly which products in the line up would work best for you, the easiest thing to do is to log onto this great index on their website that helps you determine your exact program.

I fall between an Index 2 and an Index 3, and these are the products I have been using:

BAIN APRÈS-SOLEIL - This is a "balancing" shampoo that gently cleanses and helps repair the hair fiber that has been exposed to environmental aggressions. It is a lightweight shampoo in which you only need a small bit of, that helps my hair detangle easily while it locks in long-lasting softness, while preserving the color radiance I work so hard at.

MASQUE UV DÉFENSE ACTIVE - This is a masque that I have used as a masque, but also a tiny amount after shampooing, which I swear is making all the difference in my hair. It deeply replenishes and strengthens m helping it to become shinier, softer and more radiant.

SÉRUM APRÈS-SOLEIL - This is a fantastic serum that makes my hair soft, frizz free, and ultra-shiny. I use it when my hair is sopping wet, before even towel drying to help seal in as much moisture as I can. And if I need to control any bit of frizz or unwanted curl, I run a teensy bit over my hair after it is dry. While the serum completes the system for me and works beautifully together with the other two products, this is a holy grail product for my daughter who has super thick wavy hair. One pump of serum spread through her dry hair makes her hair look like she literally just stepped out of the finest salon using the finest tools. You would never know that her thickness was air dried.

So, the system is not cheap, but worth it considering how much I tend to neglect my hair and overspend on my skin. The noticeable difference of both look and feel to my hair is so amazing, that I would not hesitate to spend the $124 again - at least during the rest of the Summer.

Kérastase products are available at fine salons, which you can look up through their salon locator or right online through Kérastase.

No More Lackluster Locks.

I got my hair cut (almost 6 inches cut off, and multiple layers added in) about a month ago. While I am finally used to the shorter hair, I can already see the damage I am doing by blow drying it everyday and even sometimes curling or straightening it. Add to that the root touch ups and highlights, my hair has been quite lackluster, if I say so myself.

gg_shine.jpg To my beauty closet I headed and immediately pulled out Shine Coconut Amla Revitalizing Hair Treatment from Global Goddess Beauty. Indian lovelies give themselves a weekly coconut oil scalp massage treatment, and Shalini Vadhera, creator of Global Goddess, recreated a similar formula, and has packaged it up for us.

The treatment is an extraordinary blend of Coconut, Amla, Henna, and Avocado, which are all naturally vitamin enriched oils, each with their own agenda for taking the guesswork out of luscious locks. It smells amazing, and a tiny bit, maybe the size of a pea, is all you need.

I was apprehensive to try a hair oil at first, but I don't think I could go without a weekly treatment of Shine anymore.  My hair is smooth, full of shine, and is extremely soft.

Shine hair treatment retails for $45, and is available at the Global Goddess website or Sephora.

Hair Therapy!

I have struggled when purchasing hair products. Besides the fact that there are simply so many products to choose from, I have a hard time getting consistent results day in and day out.  Until now.

I have found the perfect hair care line to provide me with tremendous results each and every day. And I only alter one or two of the styling products depending on how I am wearing my hair for the day, or if it is really humid. Can you take a guess at what I use?  I am using products from the Biolage line by Matrix.

biolage.jpgI am most hooked on a few things, while changing a just a few in my routine to adjust accordingly, like I said. But with each and every Biolage products I choose, I have great hair days - every day. On most days, I use ColorCareTherapie Color Care Shampoo and Color Care Conditioner. Depending on the style I select from either the Hydro-Foaming Styler (mousse) or the Bodifying Cream Gel. I always finish with the Complete Control Extra Hair Spray, which is an aerosol that has tremendous hold while feeling weighted down or sticky, and finish that off with a quick mist of Shine Renewal Spray for the ultimate high shine.

The holy grail product of the line has got to be the Hydrathérapie Cera-Repair at-home treatment. I use it once in a week, sometimes just in the shower, or if I feel my hair needs extra moisturization, I leave it in all night and rinse it out in the morning. It feels so light on that I sometimes wonder how it works, but it does. It really is a treat and makes my hair look like I just walked away from a $300 salon appointment.

I realize we all have our different hair needs and problems that we deal with, but I have not been so happy with such an entire line of products in what seems like, forever. I am so glad to have found it. I plan on trying some products from the Smooththeraie line this summer, when I will want my hair looking extra sleek and smooth.

If you are looking for a change, visit this handy chart Biolage has prepared online. I will help you locate the products that you should be using for every hair want and need.
