TRIA Hair Removal Laser Update 3.

I told you about the TRIA Beauty Hair Removal Laser back in October. If you haven't read my introductory post, please do so, so that you can follow along.  Right now, I am in my third month of testing out this at home hair removal laser from TRIA Beauty.

I feel like I am at a stand still with the laser right now. I am still using it about every five days on my underams and legs. Yes, the hair is coming in slower, and I do not have the need to shave before five days. This is progress, but the hair is still coming in. It is well documented that it takes a full six months of treatment before the hair stops growing in, so I realize I still need to continue the treatments and be patient. I cannot wait until I can say that my underarms and legs are hair-free.

Here is a little video from one of the research doctors at TRIA explaining, really briefly, how the TRIA Hair Removal Laser works.

TRIA Hair Removal Laser Update 2.

I told you about the TRIA Beauty Hair Removal Laser back in October. If you haven't read my introductory post, please take a few minutes to do so, so you can follow along. Basically, I am testing out this new system from TRIA Beauty, a leader in light-based laser technology.

As I said, I am using the TRIA on my underarm area.  I began by using it twice a week. Over the past few weeks, I only use it one time a week. Why? Well, as you need to be cleanly smooth and freshly shaven before using, I cannot use it more than once a week now. Yes, this is progress.  I only have noticeable hair growth after about 5 days, and I am shaving then. The hair is much more thin and less sparse than it was when I began using the TRIA back in November.

I am still using the TRIA on a level 3. I fully thought that I would be able to use it on level 4, but I just don't like the stinging I feel. Some of the pulses don't feel like anything, and then all of a sudden, it almost feels like a bee sting to me. I must be more sensitive in parts, so level 3 it is.

I am thrilled at the progress. So much so, that I now take the time and use it on my legs once a week.  It takes just less than twenty minutes on each leg. I am on level 2 on my legs. The first time I used it on my legs, I did take too long and the battery died on me. But now that I have the pattern and motion in check, I can get a full forty minutes use out of the TRIA before it needs a recharge. It is important to note that when I received the TRIA, I was instructed to use the device twice a week for review purposes. The directions that come with the TRIA are different, explaining to use it once every two weeks. I settled on using it on just once a week on my legs - mainly because of the time involved.

When I began, I thought I would use this on my underarms and bikin area, where I am very sensitive. I think this is why I decided to use it on my legs before bikini area, but now that am quite comfortable with using the TRIA, I think I am going to add in my bikini area now. I doubt I will be able to tolerate anything more than a level 1, but we will see.

Stay tuned for another update the end of February.

TRIA Hair Removal Laser Update 1.

I told you about the TRIA Beauty Hair Removal Laser back in October. If you haven't read my introductory post, please take a few minutes to do so, so you can follow along. When I wrote the post back at the end of October, I fully expected to start testing out the system that weekend. Then the huge snow-storm hit on the 29th.  Needless to say, using my TRIA was not top on the list of my priorities as I had no electricity, heat or water for ten days.  Once things calmed down, I finally started using the TRIA the end of November.

I have been using the TRIA on my underarms on Monday and Thursday's, pretty faithfully as I was instructed to use it twice a week, for ten minutes on each area. I try to use it in the morning after showering and shaving, prior to putting on any body creams or deodorant.  I don't want anything infringing on the results, and as the area needs to be clean and dry to use it, I feel this is the best time.  It takes about ten minutes on each underarm area, where I slowly move the device over the areas, carefully and slowly moving the tip of the device, feeling the slight heat and hearing the beeps which alerts me that I have received the laser pulse and it is time to move the tip to the next area.  I am careful to overlap just a bit to get the most efficient result.

There are 5 levels of pulse on the TRIA. Each level is a bit stronger, and the higher you go, the more it will hurt.  It goes from a low level of heat pulse on level 1 and 2, to a feeling of rubber bands snapping to a full out bee sting at level 5 for me. I started on level 2, as I felt a slight heat-like sting on my skin when using it initially on that level.  After about five uses, when I felt no sensation again, I moved it up to level 3.  All of this is in the instructions, and as you tolerate the pain or feel no more, it is time to move up a level to get the best results from the laser. I still feel a bit of heat at level 3, but as it is not as intense, I am sure I will be dialing up to level 4 shortly.

I do not see or feel any difference in my hair yet.  I know it will take a while and hopefully will notice that the hair grows in thinner and not as fast soon. It has only been about five weeks.  I will be back with an update the end of January, so stay tuned.
