It seems like late winter is the time for lipstick, gloss and balm launches, as I swear I am learning about a new lip launch almost everyday. I will say though, there has been no launch as sexy as this shimmery new one from mark.

This creamy lip gloss creates beautiful, luscious-looking lips that are full of shimmer, shimmer and more shimmer.  Shimmer Down! is available in three shades: Browniac, Feels Ripe and Pink Spark.

NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencils.

NARS’ long awaited new Velvet Gloss Lip Pencils are here.  The pencils take everything beloved about their ‘Velvet Matte’ counterparts, and swap the formula for one that’s glossy. You know I am all about the gloss, so I can't wait to try this one.

These new glossy pencils (similar to Clinique's Chubby Sticks?) impart a non-sticky luminosity to lips, while featuring a lightweight formula enriched with Vitamin E. Available in six beautifully glazed shades, from seashell pink to raspberry sorbet, the pencils can be used alone or with other NARS lip products. Apply directly to the lips, lining first and then filling in.

BAROQUE - A bold raspberry sorbet shade; the type of regal color frequently associated with its namesake artistic style.

HAPPY DAYS - A fresh pink coral infused with gold shimmer that’s as flirty and fun-loving as the TV sitcom it’s name is inspired by.

The launch is celebrated by a film collaboration with famed fashion director Ruth Hogben, who turned to model Heather Marks for an evocative portrayal of the Pencils. An effortlessly seductive makeup look, created by Diane Kendal, keeps the focus on Marks’ mouth as all six shades of the Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil are used throughout. A juxtaposition of lip-synching with sudden and unexpected sound creates a tension between what Marks appears to be “saying” and what the viewer actually hears.

It goes without saying that I am a lip gloss addict, so when I hear news of a new launch, I am more than excited! Excited I am for this new gloss from MAKE UP FOR EVER called Lab Shine.

Star - boasts 14 shades and is blended with MAKE UP FOR EVER Star Powder, to add glamorous shine to the lips with an iridescent mother-of-pearl finish. 

Metal - features 9 shades and contains MAKE UP FOR EVER Metal Powder for an intense chrome, mirror finish.

I like all three finishes in the neutral colors that I chose. I most often wear and I would probably select more shades from the Star Collection for the subtle shimmer or the Metal shades for high gloss shine. While I do like the Diamond shades, I would save those for dressier affairs, as this forty-something Mom doesn't need that much glitter for the day. My teenager daughter though, picked the Diamond shades for herself right away.
