It is so wonderful that MAC has incorporated their charitable Viva Glam line with the holidays, broadening their contribution. Just look at their entries this year.

This year, Viva Glamorous features two beautiful compacts in their red cases embellished with their Royal Crown. There are two palettes, one in cool tones, one in warm. The cool palette features Viva Glam II and IV Lipsticks, and Viva Glam VI Gloss. The warm palette features Viva Glam V and VI Lipsticks, and Viva Glam V Gloss. Like all of the Viva Glam products, every cent goes to MAC's AIDS fund. Each palette sells for $22.50.

I say, Viva Gorgeous!

Mascara Monday - Blinc Kiss Me Mascara.

graphic_mascara_monday.jpg

Finding your holy grail mascara can be difficult. I hope I am making it a wee bit easier by bringing you my mascara reviews every Monday.

Today I am going to talk about how I felt about Blinc's Kiss Me Mascara. This was one mascara I could not wait to get my hands on, as it is not a typical mascara. Most mascara's are "painted" on with color and fibers. Kiss Me Mascara is not of this formula. It is a formula that actually wraps each individual lash and forms a tube around them. Here is the official description from the blinc website.

"Kiss Me Mascara is the original mascara invented to form tiny water-resistant “tubes” around your lashes rather than painting them like conventional mascaras. Once applied, the tubes bind to your lashes and cannot run, smudge, clump, or flake, even if you cry or rub your eyes.

Kiss Me Mascara will add both volume and length to give you a radiant natural look that lasts all day. Only when you are ready for removal, the tubes will effortlessly slide off your lashes into your hand without the use of a harsh makeup remover.

All it takes is the combination of lots of warm water and gentle pressure, from your fingertips, a washcloth or water pressure (i.e. shower) and the tubes will slide off your lashes effortlessly. Upon removal you will actually see the tiny tubes in your hand!

Kiss Me Mascara has been clinically tested to be non-irritating making it ideal for sensitive eyes, contact lens wearers, and active people in search of a mascara whose look, hold and ease of removal is without compromise."

When looking at the brush, it does not appear to be anything more special then your average mascara wand.

So I applied, as in the directions, carefully making one even swoop from the base of my lashes and up. My lashes were immediately longer and more defined. There was no clumping, obviously, I just noticed lashes that were a bit longer. For what my lashes gained in length, they certainly lacked in volume. I really like both long and thick lashes, not just almost spider-leg looking lashes, so I was a bit disappointed.

The mascara did not budge all day. No smearing or smudging at all. I didn't test this under any exreme conditions, just a normal average busy day - my lashes looked as they did when I first applied.

What I was even more disappointed in was with the removal of the mascara. You have to apply pressure to remove the mascara, and it was a bit more than just normal pressure. I did not like how I had to more like tug on my lashes with water, to then finally see them come off in the shape of little tubes. It was actually quite weird.  Removal was definitely not my favorite part.

Kiss Me Mascara costs $25 and is available at Sephora and the Blinc site in six shades: Black, Dark Brown, Medium Brown, Dark Blue, Dark Purple, and Dark Green, so there is definitely a wide range there.

Maybe if you have thick lashes that just need defining and need a msacra that truly lasts throughout the day, and if you don't mind the strange removal process, then I would suggest you give it a try. Kiss Me Mascara was just not for me.
