MAKEUP

INSPIRATION
With Emma’s look, we really went fun, coquettish and flirtatious. She wore a jumpsuit with sparkles, not your typical red carpet look. She looked so at home in it. For her makeup, we focused on both eyes and lips, which isn’t the norm—but we wanted something modern and ultra-feminine, not too serious.

SKINCARE
For skincare, I used CHANEL Hydra Beauty Crème and CHANEL Hydra Beauty Nourishing Lip Balm to prep Emma’s face and lips.

FACE
I applied Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush Effects Makeup in Vanilla to Emma’s complexion. On the cheeks, I used the new CHANEL Le Jardin de Chanel Powder Blush, and instead of powder I applied an anti-shine balm to the center of the face.

EYES
I started by applying CHANEL Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner in Black Shimmer. I mainly focused on the top of the eye, going across the top of the lid and out into an angled, cat eye shape. Over the liner, I added a navy shadow from CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Tissé Riviera then applied the silver shade from the same palette to the center of Emma’s bottom lashline. I filled in her eyebrows with CHANEL Crayon Sourcils Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil and combed her brows up with gel. I wanted her brows to frame the eyes and to appear slightly thicker. To finish the eye look, I coated Emma’s lashes with CHANEL Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Noir.

LIPS
To give equal focus to Emma’s lips, I applied Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in HD Iris.

HAIR

INSPIRATION: Emma Stone wore a custom Lanvin jumpsuit that was modern with classic elegant ease. This completely unexpected look was one of Mara’s all-time favorites and inspired the modern, naturally tousled but not overdone hair look that ensued.

STEP 1: To prep, Mara applied L’Oréal Paris EverStyle Texture Series Tousle Crème ($6.99) to hair for texture
STEP 2: Next, Mara rough dried the hair until almost dry and then spritzed L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Txt it Tousle Waves Spray ($4.99) and continued to rough dry completely
STEP 3: With a medium sized round brush, Mara smoothed out the front pieces for a more polished look
STEP 4: With the ghd Classic Wave Wand ($245), Mara took random sections around the head, about 1" thick, and wrapped them around the barrel. Due to its oval shape, this iron gives the hair a more effortless looking wave
STEP 5: To break up the style and add a slight volume and texture, Mara sprayed L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Blow Dry It Longwear Spray ($4.99)
STEP 6: For an added touch, Mara placed a modern silver bar hair accessory by the French designer, Hair Designaccess to the back of Emma’s hair
STEP 7: To finish the look, Mara sprayed L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Lock It Weather Control Hairspray ($4.99) to withstand the unexpected rainy LA weather

INSPIRATION
When we decide on a red carpet look, it always starts with the dress. With Rosamund’s dress, there was a raw element, but with a rock-and-roll twist. So there’s a bit of an edge, and I really wanted to play that up.

FACE
I wanted to accentuate Rosamund’s fair, English-rose complexion. I used CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 for light, luminous coverage—it has a nice dewy finish and goes on incredibly evenly. I applied it with a Beauty Blender soaked in rose water for a flawless, soothing application. I pressed foundation all over the face, starting from the middle and working outward. Once the complexion was flawless, I used CHANEL Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base, one of my favorite products ever. I warmed up the skin all over, then concentrated on the cheekbones to contour naturally, as well as the forehead and nose for a healthy, sun-kissed glow. Next, I applied pink blush onto the apples of the cheeks with the same brush that I had used to apply the CHANEL Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base. By using the same brush, I could achieve a seamless blend on the skin.

EYES
When I saw Rosamund’s dress—classic with ethereal, Greek-goddess elements—I thought I’d use a soft, smoky-grey for her eye look. (The cream color of the dress allowed me to play with color.) I wanted the makeup to be a little rock-and-roll to accentuate her gorgeous, green-blue eyes. I began the eye look with the brows, as they frame the face. To create Rosamund’s soft, smoky look I began with a taupe-grey liner, Make Up For Ever Artist Liner in I16, applying it along the top and bottom lashes in a thick line. I then blended CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Mirage over the line and feathered it up to the crease. On the bottom outer corner of the eye, I blended it using a brush in a back-and-forth motion. I added CHANEL Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Infini into the outer corner of the crease to add depth. Finally, I curled the lashes and applied mascara on her top and bottom lashes.

LIPS
With the smoky eye, I wanted to use a really beautiful nude color, but with life, not too matte. I finished the look with CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Ingénue, which is a little lighter than Rosamund’s natural lip color.

DJ Quintero created Katie Holmes’ hair look for last nights Golden Globes Awards using products from Alterna Haircare.  DJ wanted to create a modern, clean look to compliment Katie’s strapless, eggplant-colored Marchesa dress. Katie wasn’t wearing any jewelry, so DJ created a deep-parted, low pony-tail to compliment her striking features and elegant, bare neckline.

STEP 5: DJ prepped Katie’s dry hair with the Alterna Haircare Caviar Perfect Iron Spray ($28), and then used a thin Sedu Revolution Diamond flatiron, from root to tip, to create a super smooth look.
