Get the Look: Sarah Michelle Gellar at the Golden Globes.

Sarah Michelle Gellar looked beautifully wild last night at the Golden Globes with her almost tie-dyed looking Monique L’huillier gown. Makeup Artist Jake Bailey did her look.

Inspiration: The inspiration for this look was Sarah’s Monique L’huillier blue and white gown (which was chosen by Sarah’s two year old daughter).  For the night, Jake wanted to make the eyes the main focus to complement the bold color of the dress.

Step-by-Step:
v  To start, Jake used L’Oréal Paris Extra-Intense Carbon Black Eyeliner to rim and define the top and bottom lash lines
v  Next, Jake blended two shades of L’Oréal Paris Infallible Eye Shadow in Midnight Blue and Sultry Smoke – using his fingertip, Jake gently blended both shades and used them outward and upward to create a smokey effect
v  To accentuate Sarah Michelle’s lashes he coated them with L’Oréal Paris Voluminous False Fiber Lashes Mascara in Blackest Black
v  He perfected her skin by buffing a dime size dollop L’Oréal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Makeup in Caramel Beige over Sarah Michelle’s entire face and finished it with a dusting of Guerlain Mineral Powder in Les Violettes
v  Jake used a powder bronzer from Nars in Laguna to warm her complexion and brightened her cheeks with a swirl of a shimmery coral blush called from Benefit in Coralista on the apples
v  He lined Sarah Michelle’s lips and filled them in with a nude liner called from Urban Decay in wallflower
v  Jake finished the look by applying L’Oréal Paris Infallible 8hr plumping gloss in plumping pink to add shine and dimension
v  For her body he mixed equal parts AHAVA mineral body lotion and M.A.C. strobe cream to add a healthy sheen to her shoulders arms and decolletage

Hair

Inspiration: To complement her striking Lanvin gown, stylist Mara Roszak wanted Emma's hair to emulate that same edgy and effortless style. Staying away from anything too romantic, the rougher texture was key in achieving the goal of the style – a strong feel while remaining feminine.

Step by Step How-To:
v  Starting with wet hair, applied MATRIX Total Results Amplify Foam Volumizer
v  Rough dried hair to extenuate natural texture
v  Used a 1” barrel curling iron to touch up natural wave
v  Took a dab of MATRIX Total Results Curl Contouring Lotion to tame any extra frizz throughout the hair and give it a bit more definition
v  Pulled hair back loosely letting the front of the hair and pieces around the face fall out.
v  Twist ends of hair and pull back to create a loose, messy chignon in the back, letting the front of the hair and pieces around the face fall out
v  Once hair was back and pinned, began dropping the hair into the messy bun shape, pinning and wrapping each piece individually
v  To secure the style, used BIOLAGE Freeze Fix Hair Spray
v  Pinned in Lanvin hair accessory

Get the Look: Julianna Margulies at the 2012 Golden Globes.

Julianna Margulies looked lovely in her Naeem Khan gown at last night's Golden Globe Awards. Her makeup was done by Kristofer Buckle, while her hair was done by Matthew Monzon, both for L'Oreal Paris.

Inspiration: For Julianna’s makeup, Kris was inspired by Julianna’s deep mauve, metallic Naeem Khan dress.  He wanted to create something that would complement its texture and liquid-like flow.

Makeup

Step by Step How-To:
v  For the night, Kris kept Julianna’s skin simple with glowing soft tones to accentuate her olive skin
v  To keep Julianna’s complexion looking flawless he used L’Oréal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Makeup in Soft Ivory
v  For her cheeks he applied L’Oréal Paris Magic Smooth Soufflé Blush in Plume
v  The eyes really took center stage with a soft smoky eye that was created with watercolor-like shades using L’Oréal Paris Infallible Eye Shadow in Bronzed Taupe, Eternal Sunshine and Iced Latte
v  To tie the look together Kris used a hint L’Oréal Paris Infallible Eye Shadow in Iced Latte on Julianna’s upper cheeks to tie in the eyes and glowing tones of her skin
v  Lips were left unlined and highlighted natural tones (with a hint of mauve) using L’Oréal Paris Infallible Le Rouge in Forever Frappe

v  L’Oréal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Makeup in Soft Ivory ($10.95)

Hair

Inspiration: Inspired by Julianna’s Naeem Khan dress, Matthew wanted to compliment the sophisticated style with a hairstyle that was simple, fresh and young.  Matthew created a polished ponytail, but punched it up with a touch of allure by adding volume and height to the top and front of her hair.  The ponytail was sleek, glossy and tight to compliment and finish her classic look of the night.

Step by Step How-To:
v  To create a volumized ponytail, Matthew first used L’Oréal Paris EverStyle Alcohol-Free Volume Root Lifting Spray & Volume Boosting Mousse on damp hair, combing it through from root to end and blow dried Julianna’s hair with a large round brush
v  Once hair was dry, Matthew sectioned the hair in two parts, securing a low ponytail and leaving the front/top section of hair out
v  Next, Matthew added some height to the top and front of Julianna’s hair by slightly teasing it with a brush.  He then secured all of hair together to make a tight ponytail
v  He then took a quarters size dollop of L’Oréal Paris EverStyle Alcohol-Free Smooth & Shine Crème & Serum and smoothed over the sides and in the ponytail to ensure that all hair looked smooth and glossy
v  Matthew finished Julianna’s look with L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray Extra Strong Hold Unscented to keep hair in place throughout the night
