Makeup:
Kayleen McAdams said, “The inspiration for Sofia’s look was chocolate and caramel! Chocolatey brown eyes, caramel colored lips. With a dress like hers, I wanted her makeup to look delicious and sexy.

I started by applying NatureLuxe Silk Foundation in Nutmeg #360 all over the face and blended into the neck.  I then used TruConceal #4 under the eyes, around the nose and on any spots where needed.  I finished with a light dusting of Clean Pressed Powder in Soft Honey and Cheekers Blush in Sierra Sands to set the base.

On the eyes, I started by applying Eye Enhancers 1-Kit Shadow in Brown Smolder all over the lid and followed that with the Perfect Point Plus Eyeliner in Espresso just at the root of the lashes.  I also used Perfect Point Plus Eyeliner in Espresso on the bottom lashes and set that liner with Queen Collection 1-Kit Shadow in Copper Penny.  I applied three coats of LashBlast Volume Mascara on both the top and bottom lashes to lengthen and add volume.

Sofia and I wanted to do something different on her lips, so we chose a shade that she never used before – and we loved the change. I tried tons of different lipsticks on my arm! We looked them all over and tried three different shades before finding the perfect one. I wanted the lip to look like caramel, so I added a little gloss. I filled in Sofia’s lips with LipPerfection Lip Color in Captivate, and then went back over the edge of the lips with LipPerfection Lip Liner in Smoky to fill them out and keep her lipstick in place. I topped it all off with Queen Collection Lip Gloss in Sugar and Spice just in the center of the lips.

To keep Sofia’s look fresh all night, I gave her powder, lipstick, lip liner and gloss to keep in her purse. Sofia can’t live without LashBlast Volume Mascara, so I also keep my kit well stocked with extras.”
Hair:
Jen Atkin went for a glamorous look inspired by the texture of her Zuhair Murad dress. "I wanted the hair to flow with the dress so we chose a bombshell wavy look. Sofia is a sexy woman who can work a full volume look so we did a twist on a 60s style and made it modern by keeping it long with loose sexy waves and volume at the crown," said Atkin.

1. Always start with the right foundation. Begin by washing with Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy Volumizing Root Boost Shampoo and Conditioner to nourish the scalp and hair while also getting the volume and body from root to tip necessary to carry this style.

2. Use a volumizing mousse at the crown of the hair. Use a round brush to create volume and set the hair with velvet rollers.

3. Next, spray a texturizing spray throughout the rest of the hair and blowdry using a medium round brush for volume.

4. Once hair is dry, spritz an anti-humidity spray all over and brush through.

5. Use an 1 1/4" curling iron to set the hair. Wrap big sections of hair and curl up and away from the face.

6. Finally, comb the waves through with your fingers. Tease a little at the crown and finish off the look with a light spray of hairspray. If needed add a spray gloss to the ends.

Get the Look: Emily VanCamp at the 2012 Emmy Awards.

Celebrity makeup artist, Rosie Johnston, created the look of Emily VanCamp for the 2012 Emmys using products from Talika Beauty.

Emily VanCamp 2012 Emmy Awards

“Emily is wearing a beautiful, kind of 1920s art-decoy very pale grey dress, in that it’s structured, but not, and it’s very ethereal, beautiful, and youthful.  So we went for a very classic look, nothing that would take away from the dress.  The look was youthful, classic, extremely polished while also looking effortless.

First, I used Talika’s Instant Beauty as a primer because it is going to be extremely hot on the red carpet and a primer is really necessary.  I applied it using a foundation brush all over the face, but mainly focusing on the T-zone.  I loved Instant Beauty because it gave her skin dewiness while still remaining matte, which is very rare to find in a product.

We wanted a really defined brow and Emily has good brows already, but they don’t extend out on the end, so I used the Talika Eyebrow Extender in Dark Brown to create a nicer form and help her eyebrows look naturally extended out.  I applied it straight through once to darken up the brow and give the appearance of the eyebrows being thicker.  Then I went back and applied in areas that were a little sparser.  The product was a great base to create a thicker, longer brow and also gave the shadow I used to fill them in later something to grip onto.

For her lashes, I used Talika’s Heated Eyelash Curler, which was freaking awesome!  It’s amazing and it actually makes the curl stay!  I love it.   I wanted to go for a thicker look for her lashes so I applied a light coat of mascara, then went back over, while the mascara was still wet, and applied the Talika Lash Extender for added volume and length, and then added another coat of thicker mascara on top.  It made her eyes look very defined but you wouldn’t know that there was a lot there.  This kept everything defined and polished.

She looked gorgeous walking out the door.  Classic, clean, and youthful.”

TRESemmé Celebrity Stylist John D., who created her hair look, said he “wanted to complement Emily’s soft, gray gown with a style that was equally modern and romantic.  We opted for a lovely, textured chignon with side-swept bangs to really bring the look together.”

Step 1:  Prep towel-dried hair with TRESemmé Smooth Salon Silk Serum and TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Foaming Mousse.  Combine both products in palms and apply to hair with fingertips from roots to ends

** Stylist Secret:  Use a combination (cocktail) of products to achieve styling results simultaneously (e.g. shine, volume and smoothness)

Step 2:  Blow dry hair using a round brush

Step 3:  Take 1-2 inch sections of hair and curl with a small barrel curling iron, spraying each section with TRESemmé Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray to aid in protecting hair from excess heat

Step 4:  Once all hair is curled, allow the curls to cool before brushing through with a small bristle brush

Step 5:  Gently back brush the hair for added volume and texture

Step 6:  Create a deep side part and pull all hair into a loose ponytail at one side of the nape of the neck and secure with a band

Step 7:  Twist the ponytail into a full chignon at the nape, securing with bobby pins

Step 8:  Complete the style with a spritz of TRESemmé TRES Two Ultra Fine Mist Non-Aerosol Hairspray to help add shine and keep the look in place
