Big Hair Don't Care: The Best Products for Voluminous Hair.
/The older I get, the more fine my hair is becoming. My hair is overall more limp and I like big hair. Well, not over the top big hair, but I want my hair to have volume. I am finding the need for products that help my hair achieve more volume for today's hairstyles. I have been testing a lot of products that promise voluminous hair, and you know what? Some of them just don't work. Some of these volume hair products offer too much heavy product that they actually weigh fine hair like mine down. So I have really narrowed down my product search to just a few really great products that have continually worked for me to achieve the big, voluminous hair that I want.
Herbal Essences Body Envy Volumizing Shampoo & Conditioner - $3.99 each
I don't quite know how this lightweight formula that has a fusion of passion flower sunrise and pearl in it works, but this duo simply leaves my hair full of volume when I use it. Now, I only wash 3 - 4 times a week, but my hair is left very full without being weighed down. It is that fullness that moves. And I love the super fresh scent.
Herbal Essences Body Envy Dry Shampoo - $6.99
In between my washes, I am using this new(ish) dry shampoo to not only absorb the oils in my hair, but to uplift my roots and give my hair volume. I sometimes even use it on freshly shampooed hair to give me a bit of lift if I feel I need it. The formula contains natural tapioca to keep hair looking and feeling fresh in between shampoos. I flip my head over and spray this underneath my hair and then gently lift up in a few sections and spray at the roots and then gently brush through my hair. You wouldn't believe the volume.
VOLOOM Hair Volumizing Iron - $129.95
This unique volumizing hair tool "crimps" volume into the hair, beneath the layers of the hair. I didn't believe it until I tried it, but once I did, I was obsessed. Take a look at the little teeth of the iron which sandwich volume deep into the hair.
I only use it on the underneath of my hair as it does leave the little teeth marks or crimps into the hair, then the top layers lie on top, with huge volume. Take a look at my quick before and after.
After a few tries, I have learned how to quickly use the VOLOOM Hair Volumizing Iron and use it very easily to achieve the volume I want. I quickly section off the top layers of my hair then hold the VOLOOM Hair Volumizing Iron vertically on the underneath layers of my hair and clamp it for about 8 -10 seconds and then unclamp. I repeat this 2 -3 times on each side and the back of my head. Once the hair cools, I let down the tops layers of my hair and I'm done. The result is the voluminous hair you see above.
Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse - $28.00
This styling mousse give my hair more volume than any other styling product that I have ever used. It is weightless and offers medium hold with a lot of volume. I need the amount of about a golf ball for my shoulder length hair and when I blow-dry, my hair has about twice the volume versus when I don't use it. Plus, I can never get enough of the Moroccanoil smell.
Hair2wear Christie Brinkley Collection 16" Hair Extension - $49.00
When all else fails and I want instant volume AND added length, I clip in this really fun hair extension. I never thought I would wear or even like a hair extension, but I find myself clipping this in at least once a week in between shampoos and it is so simple. I am using the Medium Golden Blonde Extension and it matches my hair perfectly. For being a faux hair extension, it looks and acts like real hair; it holds up really well.
