The much anticipated book from the legendary Francois Nars Makeup Your Mind: Express Yourself will be making its debut this month.
The book is an ultimate beauty manual turning the lens on real women and men of differing ages and ethnicities and brings together makeup-application instruction and vivid portraits of “before” and “after” images with overlaid acetate diagrams. I cannot wait to read it, as I am sure it will be an excellent source of how-tos with makeup application tips from the master Francois Nars himself.
It was 83 degrees in New England yesterday. It felt like we just skipped over spring and headed right into summer. Honestly, I did not mind one bit. Though I like temperatures in the 60's and 70's, the warmer temperatures had me thinking about this new NARS Summer 2011 Collection, and I can't wait to play.
NARS’ long awaited new Velvet Gloss Lip Pencils are here. The pencils take everything beloved about their ‘Velvet Matte’ counterparts, and swap the formula for one that’s glossy. You know I am all about the gloss, so I can't wait to try this one.
These new glossy pencils (similar to Clinique's Chubby Sticks?) impart a non-sticky luminosity to lips, while featuring a lightweight formula enriched with Vitamin E. Available in six beautifully glazed shades, from seashell pink to raspberry sorbet, the pencils can be used alone or with other NARS lip products. Apply directly to the lips, lining first and then filling in.
The shades:
BAROQUE - A bold raspberry sorbet shade; the type of regal color frequently associated with its namesake artistic style. HAPPY DAYS - A fresh pink coral infused with gold shimmer that’s as flirty and fun-loving as the TV sitcom it’s name is inspired by.
NEW LOVER - A strawberry pink, laced with gold that mimics the look of overly-kissed lips.
FRIVOLOUS - A flirty and frothy iridescent seashell pink, that is anything but serious.
HOPI - A honey beige hue inspired by the Native American tribe of northeastern Arizona.
CLUB MIX - A sheer grape color that’s sophisticated enough for day, but seductive enough for a night on the town.
The launch is celebrated by a film collaboration with famed fashion director Ruth Hogben, who turned to model Heather Marks for an evocative portrayal of the Pencils. An effortlessly seductive makeup look, created by Diane Kendal, keeps the focus on Marks’ mouth as all six shades of the Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil are used throughout. A juxtaposition of lip-synching with sudden and unexpected sound creates a tension between what Marks appears to be “saying” and what the viewer actually hears.
These new Velvet Gloss Lip Pencils are available today for $24 each, at narscosmetics.com.
