The much anticipated book from the legendary Francois Nars Makeup Your Mind: Express Yourself will be making its debut this month.

The book is an ultimate beauty manual turning the lens on real women and men of differing ages and ethnicities and brings together makeup-application instruction and vivid portraits of “before” and “after” images with overlaid acetate diagrams. I cannot wait to read it, as I am sure it will be an excellent source of how-tos with makeup application tips from the master Francois Nars himself.

In advance of the launch, NARS has created a great website to go along with it, called makeupyourmind.com. This is a community website that features an interactive social game for all makeover lovers, especially for fans of NARS.

The site is a virtual global gallery that will showcase the users’ personal interpretation of beauty by allowing them to recreate twelve selected looks from the book, upload their images. Once uploaded, users can even opt to garner votes on the best looks for the opportunity to win one of 13 prizes, including a trip to New York City to join NARS backstage during New York Fashion Week. Amazing? Yes!

HOW IT WORKS:

Select one of 12 looks from the website and follow the onscreen step-by-step instructions (taken directly from the book) to achieve the look.
Post a picture of it to the website by connecting through Facebook Connect (and become a “NARSissist”).
Vote on (or “heart”) which look you think was personally interpreted in the best way
Once you upload your image, a post will be added to the “wall feed” on your Facebook page
Users can also participate by simply browsing the website and voting for their favorite “NARSissists”
The game will run for 4 months from May 6, 2011-August 31, 2011

Like I said, there is a prize which is the ultimate trip to NYC. The user with the most hearts by September 1, 2011, will win this grand prize which is a trip for two to New York City to join NARS backstage at Fashion Week in February 2012. The prize pack includes two round-trip airfare tickets, two nights hotel accommodations, backstage access to select NARS shows, a makeup consultation at the NARS flagship boutique, and a gift certificate to a trendy NYC restaurant for each night. Also, ten runners-up will receive secondary prizes—gift sets created exclusively for the launch of Makeup Your Mind: Express Yourself.
