10 Must-Have Beauty Products to Help You Through the Heat
/I like the heat and love the summer weather, but I could do without the humidity. It’s hard to look or feel your best when it feels 100+ degrees outside. It might even be difficult for some when it starts to feel 80+ degrees or even less.
Beauty can take on a life of its own when you are trying to get through the heat. I change up my routine quite a bit in the warm weather. I’m not just talking self-tanners and lighter, summery shades. I am talking about products that keep my sun-drenched skin hydrated, hair frizz-free, and anything and everything that I can find to keep makeup from melting off.
Here are ten must-have products to help you through the heat of the summer.
Urban Decay All-Nighter Makeup Setting Spray - There is nothing better to lock in makeup with than with this lightweight, microfine mist. By misting this essential over makeup as a final step, you’re left with a fresh, flawless makeup look that won't settle into fine lines, melt or fade for 16 hours +.
Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray Anti-Frizz Treatment - This spray-on hair treatment is my go-to hair frizz-fighter. I have yet to find a product that works as well as Dream Coat. I spay on this lightweight spray onto wet hair and am “wowed” every time. It works by way of a heat-activated polymer technology that smooths and silkens hair. It helps to form an invisible barrier that acts like a water-repellent "raincoat." It gives me a beautiful glossy finish that truly stays frizz-free, even through high heat and humidity.
IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream Oil-Free Matte with SPF 40 - I don’t know what it is about this CC Cream, but it goes on and stays on throughout the day with medium to full coverage and a natural matte finish. Even throughout high summer temps, it leaves my face looking even without fading or creasing through the day. I prefer the matte formula in the summer as it tends to hold up better without shine. Of course, I top it with the setting spray above.
bareMinerals Original Mineral Veil Pressed Setting Powder - This new version of the brand’s cult-favorite loose setting powder is perfect for year-round, especially summer. It’s weightless and extends makeup wear; it keeps makeup from fading or wearing off during the heat. Even if I were to sweat, this veil keeps everything perfectly in place.
Moroccanoil Dry Body Oil - I know you are thinking summer and oil? Yes! This is a DRY body oil that is heavenly for sun-drenched dehydrated skin. I like to spray a few pumps of this dry body oil into the palms of my hands and then smooth over my body. Not only am I left with the Moroccanoil signature scent, but my skin is left instantly soothed, smoothed, and hydrated. It leaves skin hydrated all day long.
Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Primer Water - Creating the perfect canvas starts with a primer. In the summer, I like to go as light as possible and layer on as little as possible. I use this lightweight hydrating priming mist before I apply anything else and it helps to set makeup in place for the day.
L’Oreal Paris EverPure Fizz-Defy Sulfate Free Shampoo & Conditioner - Even though I am obsessed with Dream Coat and truly depend on it, I do like to start in the shower with a frizz-fighting shampoo and conditioner. This combo gets the job done with the addition of marula oil to its already award-winning formula.
Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara - I don’t wear waterproof mascara every day, but when the humidity rises I definitely use it. As Better Than Sex is one of my all-time favorites, of course I select the waterproof version to get the job done. Curled, voluminous, and waterproof lashes all-in-one!
Revlon ColorStay Satin Ink Liquid Lipstick - The last thing I ever want is for my lipstick to wear off, but it seems like it is the first thing to melt off in the humidity and heat. I prefer something long-lasting, not matte and gentle. This Satin Ink Liquid Lipstick checks all the boxes and comes in twenty shades.
Urban Decay Primer Potion - This eyeshadow primer is my go-to eyeshadow primer year round. It especially proves how good it is when I am out and about in the heat of the summer.
