Holiday Skin Prep.
/As soon as Halloween is over, it is all about the holidays around my house. I slowly, but surely start pulling out all the holiday decorations and start prettying up the house. Holiday prep is a lot of fun when planned right. I just love all of the sparkling twinkle lights and old gold and silver ornaments from years ago. I always reminisce about Christmases past as I pull out decorations and the boxes with old photographs. I spend hours going through everything each year before I even start decorating; it's a tradition for my family and me.
I got a kick out of looking at the old photos of me with my parents and my sister this year. I often say that I am obsessed with my hair, and I think by seeing a few of my pictures of me in my younger years that I understand where that obsession stemmed from. It looks as if I had a new hairstyle every Christmas.
As I was in my early twenties, I have to wonder what I was thinking. I mean, how much time do you think it took me to get my hair that big? I am the one in the upper right-hand corner (above). And my hair usually is pretty straight. Crazy!
I know I did not spend nearly as much time on my skin as I did my hair. Or my makeup. Yes, I've been makeup obsessed since an early age, too. But the question remains, why didn't anyone tell me how necessary skin care is way back then?
I know that I did not wear sunscreen. Like ever. And if I washed my face before bed, it was a good day. I cannot remember for the life of me what I used for a cleanser, but I do remember that I used a liquid foaming cleanser in the shower and a moisturizer and that was it — for years. I think I was closer to thirty years old before I realized that I needed to use sunscreen, an eye cream and get more serious about a solid skincare routine. Luckily, things have changed for the better since then.
As I prep my home for the holidays, I get even more serious about my skincare; my holiday skin prep is on a whole other level. With an onslaught of holiday gatherings, late nights, shopping trips and holiday travel on tap, my skin needs to be looking and feeling its very best.
My holiday skin prep relies on a rigorous skincare routine. I double cleanse, use an antioxidant product to protect my skin, a serum, an eye cream, a moisturizer and a sunscreen. One product that is a mainstay in my routine is L'Oréal Paris Age Perfect Cell Renewal® Rosy Tone Moisturizer. I've used this lightweight moisturizer for a long time now, and I swear by it.
Age Perfect Cell Renewal® Rosy Tone Moisturizer absorbs quickly and leaves a velvety finish on my skin. I love how my skin looks a bit rosy (see photos on my hand below), less tired and revived. It's the type of moisturizer that I depend on, especially as the holidays are here. Not only does my skin feel softer when I use Age Perfect Rosy Tone, but my skin looks and feels refreshed and smooth.
Do you do any type of special skin prep for the holidays?
