There is a new retinol treatment in town and I was super excited to have a chance to try it.
I am extremely careful when using retinol products because I am always using pretty high strength peels and try different laser treatments. You have to stop retinol products when doing anything of the sort. I go easy with retinol products too because they can aggravate my sensitive skin. I do know how effective they are so I go slow and steady to reap the rewards.
Sunday Riley is a highly regarded brand and when the new A+ High Dose Retinoid Serum came across my desk, I knew I wanted to give it a try.
Sunday Riley’s A+ High Dose Retinoid Serum is made up of a 6.5% solution. That sounds strong, but the solution is actually a combination of sorts. It’s powerful, yet soothing.
The ingredients combine a 6.5% solution of stabilized retinoid blends plus botanical, retinol-alternative extracts into the skin. All of this almost scared me at first as I can be so sensitive, but when I looked at all of the ingredients and saw the clinicals, I was so impressed.
There is blue-green algae, encapsulated CoQ10, Hawaiian white honey, ginger balance, cactus extract and more botanicals to help soothe and keep the skin in check while the retinoids work beneath the skin.

Knowing that my skin is sensitive to retinol products and the word high dose are in the name, I started out using A+ slowly. I started out by using it only twice a week, then moved up to every other day. I will eventually try to use it every day, but I am seeing and feeling results now. I don’t want to aggravate or dry out my skin during the harsh winter months, especially as I am doing a lot of traveling now where my skin is really reactive.
My skin is definitely more even in tone, brighter and looking extra smooth. The lines around my mouth (which I loathe) are looking less and less each day. I know that all of the dead skin cells that have built up are gently sloughing away. I can’t wait to see continued results the longer I use it.
I feel it is a power retinol product, yet gentle with its soothing ingredients. I hope that I can move up to daily use once the cold weather lets up and my skin gets used to it more.
Sunday Riley A+ High Dose Retinoid Serum sells for $85 at sundayriley.com and Sephora.
