Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara Review.

I always get excited when a new mascara launches, especially when it claims to create "super fat, long and sexy lashes that will withstand all kinds of hot and heavy situations". I am the first to admit that I like the sound of that, especially when they added that it "boosts lash volume 13.7x". If you have read about the new Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara, you may have noticed the claim of it lasting through sex; I think that is a unique claim to make.
Because I wear lash extensions and can only test mascara on my lower lashes, both Caci and I tested Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara.
First thing is first, can we all agree on the gorgeous packaging? The iridescent rainbow packaging for Troublemaker would be enough to lure me in alone. And the tube is hefty, featuring double-wall construction. I really like that.
For me, I like the jet, back formula. Troublemaker uses two different types of black pigments, so lashes are a nice, rich black in one swipe. Remember, I am only using this mascara on my lower lashes, so I only use one coat. I did get nice separation, definition, a bit of volume and my lashes did lengthen quite well. The brush was not too big to use to apply to lower lashes and it was even easy to use on the inner and outer corner. I did not experience clumping, flaking or smudging and it held up all day for me.
Caci has very long, dark lashes already and when she tested the mascara, she applied about "three to four coats" on her upper lashes and one coat to her lower lashes. Troublemaker gave her lashes a fanned out look, definitely adding length and separation. I didn't see as much volume as I would have thought and Caci seemed a bit disappointed in that as well. When you think about it, 14x the volume is not that much of a difference when you think about a tiny lash; many mascaras claim much more in the volume department so it does probably live up to that claim. I think Troublemaker is more of a lengthening and defining mascara that is long lasting. Caci's lashes were extremely noticeable with the rich black formula. She did mention that her lashes felt very natural and that the mascara felt very lightweight on. She did not experience any smudging or clumping and it lasted on her until she removed it at the end of the day.
Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara sells for $24 and you can buy it at Sephora, Ulta, select Macy’s stores and UrbanDecay.com.
