Get the Look: Christina Hendricks at the 2011 MET Ball.

Celebrity Makeup Artis Vanessa Scali made up the gorgeous makeup look for Christina Hendricks for the 2011 MET Gala, held last night in New York City.

Inspiration:
“Christina’s makeup was directly inspired by her strapless dress.  The dress had an earthy, mermaid feel.  You can picture her appearing from out of the mist in Ireland just in time for the Ball.  This look is a contrast of simplicity and sophistication:  nude skin, ruddy-rosy cheeks and flush lips paired with intense, sultry copper eyes.”

How-To:
“First, I prepared her skin by using CHANEL Sublimage La Crème.  This cream is rich, luxurious and penetrating.  Then I applied CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 in Beige-Pastel.  This formula is so exciting!  From the moment I tried it, it has been a staple in my bag.  It’s effortless to apply and light as air -- perfect for making the skin look nude, but flawless.  CHANEL Powder Blush in Rose Petale was applied to the apples of the cheeks blending outward.

For definition and intensity, I lined her eyes with CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Noir at the base of the lashes and on the inside rim of the eye (one of my favorite ways to secretly make lashes look thicker and define the eyes is to line the inside rim, on the waterline).  Then using CHANEL Makeup Shadow/ Liner Brush #4, I smudged the line for a softer effect.  Using the rich copper shade from the CHANEL Quadra Eye Shadow in Spices, I applied color from the lash line to just above the crease and swept past the natural outer corner to exaggerate and elongate the eye.  This color continues under the bottom lashes, blended well.  Then to highlight the brow bone, I used a touch of CHANEL Fluid Iridescent Eyeshadow in Delta.  I finished the eye by framing it with lush, dramatic lashes – CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir.  You can never have too many lashes and this mascara really delivers.

For lips I wanted a flush, clean look so I used CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Sari D’Eau.  And the last touch was a dusting of CHANEL Natural Finish Pressed Powder in Clair – Translucent 1 on her T-zone.”

Golden Globes: Christina Hendricks.

Christina Hendricks, best known for her role as the sexy secretary Joan Harris in hit drama, Mad Men, rocked a Romona Keveza gown and bouncy curls courtesy of stylist Jen Atkin for Sebastian Professional at this years Golden Globe awards.

“Her dress had a rich vintage feel to it and this gorgeous accent on the shoulder that resembled a flower. Instead of putting her hair up, we opted to give it a modern twist and keep the hair bouncy and down,” says stylist Jen Atkin for Sebastian Professional. “This style is great for cocktail parties, or to dress up a look.”

To achieve Christina’s modern take on a vintage 70’s-inspired ‘do, follow Jen’s tips:

1. Begin by applying Sebastian Professional Mousse Forte at the roots on damp hair.

2. Next, blowdry the hair using a Mason Pearson brush with your head upside down. Once hair is 75 percent dry, flip your head back over and curl the ends under using a round brush.

3. Spray Sebastian Professional Shaper Zero Gravity hairspray all over the hair, and brush it thru to create a base to hold the waves.

4. Using a 1" curling iron, wrap 1" sections in a clockwise direction and pin the curls. Once the curls are set, let it cool for 15 minutes (cool for 5-10 minutes if you have thick hair).

5. Unpin the hair and brush out the curls using a boar bristle brush. Set the part and stretch out the bangs using a flat iron to get a smoother look toward the front of your face.

6. Finish the look with Sebastian Professional Shaper Fierce hairspray.
