10 Products to Keep Your Makeup from Melting Off

Summer is not only here, but the temperatures are SOARING for most of the country. We are currently enduring an extended heatwave. I, for one, am not complaining. I really like the hot weather!

When it is extremely hot outside, I always hear stories of people keeping makeup to a minimum. I often wonder why! The right products will keep your makeup in place all day.

If you keep your makeup to a minimum because you are worried about your makeup melting off your face, I am here to help.

If you use the correct makeup primer and setting products, you need not worry about your makeup lasting through any element. Your makeup will be locked into place no matter the heat... or rain, wind, or humidity, for that matter.

1. Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water
This is my current favorite primer water; it literally feels like you are misting water onto your face! I spray four or five mists onto my face immediately following my skincare routine in preparation of makeup. This innovative spray instantly absorbs into skin and creates some type of barrier to help keep makeup on all throughout the day.

2. Urban Decay Chill Makeup Setting Spray
I am a big fan of all of the Urban Decay makeup setting sprays, but I like the Chill version in the summer. Chill not only mists on to keep makeup from smudging or settling into fine lines, it contains temperature Control Technology actually chills the surface of your makeup. What does that mean? It means that this setting spray actually keeps the skin cool with the time-released formula that works for up to 12 hours.

3. NARS Pro-Prime Pore Refining Primer
This was one of the first primers that I became obsessed with, and it's for those that like a more lotion-like primer that you smooth on over the skin. I like that this one blurs away imperfections, particularly the pores, as you smooth it onto the skin. It absorbs quickly as it locks makeup into place all day long. *Note that I own the older packaging of this, and I think that NARS even updated the names of their primers. I believe that this is now called Pore & Shine Control and comes in a white tube.

4. Urban Decay Urban Defense Complexion Primer
I like to use this primer when I have a long day outside at the beach or pool. This one is a clear sunscreen and primer in one. It smooths over skin with a bit of a silicone feel. It contains SPF 30, which is a plus and smooths the appearance of skin as it minimizes the look of pores. Makeup basically applies better and lasts all day as it is protected from the sun.

5. Smashbox Photo Finish Pore Minimizing Foundation Primer
This gel formula is very lightweight and it's my pick out of the silicone gel primers from Smashbox. This one is quite mattifying; it instantly reduces the look of flaws, especially pores, and it controls oil and shine for up to eight hours. It leaves skin with a soft finish and smooths skin for makeup application.

6. Urban Decay Rebound Collagen-Infused Complexion Prep Priming Spray
This makeup prep spray is different. It is different because it not only hydrates the skin, it balances the skin as it preps the skin for makeup application as you spray it on. Once you spray it on over the skin, your skin looks tighter and more radiant. Makeup looks better once applies and lasts longer throughout the day when you use it, too. I suggest this for dull or more mature skin.

7. Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40
Unseen Sunscreen is not your average sunscreen, this sunscreen is a makeup primer and sunscreen in one. I like to layer this with other makeup primers, like a priming spray, when I am going to be outside for extended periods, or in front of my computer screen for a long time. That is because Unseen Sunscreen delivers invisible SPF 40 protection against everything like UVA, UVB, AND blue and infrared lights from things like computer and phone screens. It's a really cool formula that basically slips onto the skin seamlessly. It leaves my skin with a soft touch finish that almost feels powdery, making it perfect for makeup application.

8. Urban Decay All Nighter Waterproof Setting Powder 
This is a really unique setting powder that I use on top of my makeup as a setting powder; it essentially turns makeup waterproof and it is a must-have in the humidity and heat. Read more about it in my full post here.

9. MAC Prep + Prime Fix+
This setting spray is a favorite as it not only sets makeup for the day, but it refreshes skin during the day if you choose to mist it on. I love that this is offered in various scents and formulas, but the original and newer Goldlite and Pinklite are definite faves. Made with minerals, skin is hydrated and soothed as it is refreshed.

10. Urban Decay All Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray
This makeup setting spray is the gold standard is long lasting, in my honest opinion. It is weightless and once you spray it on, it helps to keep makeup looking freshly applies for up to 16 hours. It works and works well. It is super easy to use, too. To use, simply shake the bottle, and hold the bottle directly in front of your face, about eight to ten inches away; mist your face four to five times in an X and T formation to ensure that you entire face is covered.
