The All New COVERGIRL truBLEND Collection.
/Do you ever just stare at the line up of foundations on the shelf at the store wondering where to even begin? There are so many, in an order that doesn't seem to make sense. Looking at the names doesn't help either. Ivory, beige, almond, porcelain.... what? How would you describe your skin tone? Light, medium or deep, right? But there is so much in between. That is where COVERGIRL got smart about it, as they went about reformulating their new look for their great line up of truBLEND collection.
Not only did COVERGIRL take their wonderful foundation formula and add seven new shades to it, they updated the packaging to reflect the simplified names - and not just to the foundation. They also renamed their truBLEND FixStick Concealer, truBLEND Pressed Powder, Loose Powder, Bronzer & Blush; PLUS added some truMAGIC products that you will want to know about too.
The new truBLEND collection is organized by a shade numbering system, organized by light/medium/deep just like I mentioned as our skin tones are above. Then they go deeper with numbers, such as L1, L2, L3, etc. There are 7 light, 7 medium and 7 deep shades. Let me break it down by product and then I'll tell you a bit more about each of the products in the collection and how to best apply them.

I really like this truBLEND Liquid Makeup and I can't believe I have never tried this particular foundation before. It comes with a pump dispenser, which I feel is important, and it takes me 3 full pumps for optimum coverage. I use the three pumps of foundation on the back of my hand and then apply with a foundation brush. I blend it out with my fingertips. The formula is water based, so it moves and blends with the skin. The result is a nude, yet finished look that looks natural, seamless and feels very lightweight on the skin.
I selected two out of the shade range that I thought would be a match for me, M4 and M6. I felt that M6 was the better of the two, although a bit on the darker side. I like the foundations to match my neck better than my face and with a bit of sun damage I always have to go for the darker shade, and then lighten up with concealer.
The COVERGIRL truBLEND FixStick Concealer is very nice too and I was super impressed with it. It is very easy to apply and blend. You can just swipe it on with the stick and blend in with fingers, but I actually use a tapered concealer brush and brush it on the end of the stick and then apply. The results are professional and flawless. I am using Light L5-L7 under my eyes and using the Medium M5-M7 on spots that need covering.
New in the truBLEND collection are these new truMAGIC products and they are really special. These are three new perfecting balms that offer a touch of *magic*. They offer instant skin smoothing with just a swipe of the sponge or fingertips. Whether you need a bit of that airbrushed matte perfection, want luminous highlights or a sunkissed glow, one of these balms will get you there.
truMAGIC Skin Perfector - $8.99 - $11.99
truMAGIC Luminizer - $8.99 - $11.99
truMAGIC Sun Kisser - $8.99 - $11.99
I have all three of the the truMAGIC products and I have been using them since I received them. I have been using the Sun Kisser in place of my powder bronzer under blush. It just looks natural and fresh for winter. I use the Luminizer on top of blush on the tops of my cheekbones. I dab it on with my fingertips, very lightly. It gives a very subtle glow to my cheeks. It is barely noticeable, yet noticeable enough which I like. It does not accentuate my fine lines which is so important as many luminizers do. I finish off my makeup every day with the Skin Perfector. It gives me that airbrushed look and further softens my fine lines and wrinkles. I take the sponge and barely run it over the top of the balm and then barely run it over my finished makeup. It takes very little product and very little pressure to work. I can tell you that these truMAGIC products will remain a mainstay in my makeup bag -- they are that good.
