It takes a lot for a foundation to impress me.
With my job in the beauty field, I test and try a lot of makeup. One of those makeup products is foundation. I am probably pickier about foundation than I am about any other makeup product. With SO many great foundations out there, a new one has to do great things to stand out from the rest.
It seems like a lot of new foundations have been launching lately and I have been trying them all. Over the last three or four months, I have tried a few dozen and have been more than impressed by a few. Here are five newer foundations that stood out above the rest and really impressed me.
IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Foundation
I told you all about IT Confidence in a Foundation a few weeks ago and I have been using this new one on and off since I tried it. This full coverage foundation has a beautiful, natural matte finish that is a bit silky on me. It feels very velvety as it glides onto the skin. It offers superior coverage and long wear. I like that it does all these yet lets skin breath; it feels virtually weightless on the skin. It comes in 48 shades. Read my complete review here.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Foundation Stick
I am into the simplicity of a foundation stick, especially when traveling. I have been using the Hydro Boost Hydrating Foundation Stick a lot and I like how it hydrates my skin without being overly glowy. With the inclusion of hyaluronic acid, the foundation plumps of skin and holds on your skins own water stores to retain moisture into the skin so you immediately look better and continue to as you wear it. I do look fresh faced and more dewy when wearing it but not overly so; it is a natural looking type of radiance with a buildable medium coverage. It is super easy to apply by simply swiping onto cheeks, chin and forehead and then blending with a sponge or brush (I prefer this sponge). I have been powdering with this and using a primer, of course, and get all-day wear.

Il Makiage Woke Up Like This Flawless Base Foundation
This is another longwearing liquid foundation and my first foray into Il Makiage as a brand. This foundation is made with hyaluronic acid to help plump skin and fill in fine lines, it also contains Vitamin E and optically corrective powders which helps to make the skin look perfect in all lighting conditions and give it a natural matte finish. It feels really light on the skin, which I like and although it is fairly full coverage and long lasting, it does not feel heavy at all. With 50 shades to choose from, it might be difficult, so Il Makiage has developed a quiz to help you find your perfect shade.
bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Hydrating Foundation Stick
This foundation stick is different from others than I have tried, including the above, because it is truly a liquid foundation, in a water-based formula but in stick form. It gives skin a light to medium coverage, depending upon how much you build and apply, and it leaves skin looking natural yet a bit radiant. I am really impressed by this one and I have a feeling that I will be using it a lot this summer. It feels and looks very natural on the skin and even includes SPF 25. The shade range is not as impressive as the others, there are 20, but it does range from very pale to very deep.
Clinique Even Better Refresh Hydrating and Repairing Makeup
This new full-coverage foundation contains a blend of both hyaluronic and salicylic acid. The hyaluronic acid plumps and hydrates the skin while the salicylic acid repairs the skin. This is heavily skincare infused, which I like, and it glides on to give skin a natural coverage, yet it covers pretty thoroughly. I like applying this foundation with a brush to sheer it out a bit. It lasts all day until I remove it. It is available in 27 shades, in specific undertones and a lot of color families.
